My daughter is 13 years old and she has a skinny body and so her spine sticks out and shows. About a year ago we notice that her spine had turned brown and it has be that way ever since. She said that it doesn't hurt her, it only looks abnormal. what could this mean?

The spine is supposed to be a shallow S shape, a little more out from the collar to mid back and more "sunk in" from about mid support on down.

Scoliosis is the most common deformity of the spine.

Scoliosis is defined as curvature of the spine from side to side, to some extent than a "normal" spine with no variation to any side.

As long as there is no side to side curvature of the spine, then nearby is no reason to worry.

It could be that her spine only seems more pronounce because of her slight build and will become less perceptible as she matures.

As far as the darkening of the color of the skin along her spine, I own no idea, but it's probably just "normal" for her.

As long as she is have no discomfort and is otherwise healthy, I would say everything is OK.
