An enema is the introduction of a liquid substance ( could be melt soapy water or a medical fleet enema bought from a department store) into your rectum by way of your anus. You lay on your side and a special device (plastic) that fits into your anus is inserted into your anus and the fluid squeezed until it is all in your rectum. In 15-20 minutes you will step to the bathroom and your bowels will move (like diarrhea). That may happen more than once. It is usually used to clean out your rectum and colon for medical procedures.
