Aspartame?

Is it really true that asprtame reducese the size of you muscles? I heard it from one of my friends and was wondering.

p.s. Don't want my guns to stir away lol.

Cant really hear out of my not here ear?

Answers:    Basically a noicioceptor is a pain receptor. NMDA is an excitatory receptor. Thus if aspartame is an antagonist, it causes the in front of of excitation, which is it dulls the response. When this occurs in a discomfort receptor, it dulls the pain response. This can mean that you don't sense the spasm when you should, and you might hurt yourself (like cutting your toe, and then not realize, so it gets infected). This is my interpretation of that response.

Causing muscle degeneration is a new one for aspartame. I own not heard that before. It is reported to do simply about everything, but none of it has ever be proven despite rigorous studies and careful monitoring of the complaints people hold about aspartame. Its is a safe compound for everyone except those that enjoy the rare genetic disease phenylketouria.

I'll post some good reputable (mayo clinic, American cancer society) sites that are more or less aspartame in general, but none of them mention muscle degeneration, I don't deem. Seeing as aspartame is so common in our food supply, I don't guess muscle breakdown would be a problem, we would have discovered it by now. Plus, as your heart is a muscle, along beside most of your other internal organs, there would be some serious problems emerging if aspartame did cause muscle problems.

Aspartame have been the subject of controversy regarding its safekeeping and the circumstances of its approval by the American FDA and European FSA. Aspartic acid, into which aspartame is metabolized, is a known NMDA receptor antagonist. Aspartame itself have been shown to have antinociceptive properties through effecting NMDA receptors within mice. Some studies have also recommended further investigation into possible connections between aspartame and negative effects such as headache, brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma.[16][17][18] These findings, combined with possible conflicts of interest involving CEO Donald Rumsfeld contained by the approval process, have engendered harmonic activism regarding the possible risks of aspartame.[19][20]
