Could i be bi-polar?? need advice please?

My name is Stacey i'm 18 on the 21st of May.
My bf has said to me on maybe 5 occasions over the last 3 years "are you bipolar?" i took this as a joke because i do have mood swings but i never really understood bi-polar..

I always thought i had depression... cus somedays i can wake up and be really really sad and not want to do anything at all but then some other days i wake up full of energy wanting to do everything and anything!

i often lay awake at night thinking about the future telling myself i will have evrything i want and everything will be perfect etc but i thought this was just what everyone does but it keeps me up cus my mind is going through hundreds of thoughts at once!

I usually have talking fits and i get excited and can't shut up and i just talk about everything and anything but i thought this just meant i was one of those people that are fun to be around lol

I dont want to be bi-polar but does this sound like i could be or just imagining it??

Paranoia taking over my duration..?

Answers:    Just describe the symptoms. A doctor is there to diagnose and giving him 'hints' is not needed unless a diagnoses as been given by or hinted at by another doctor. A boyfriend diagnoses may not be all that reliable.

When be the closing time your mind feel clear, free from stress, thoughts, & worry- and be a short time ago competent to rest?

maybe you have something less serious than a bipolar disorder. It is when you felt so euphoric in several occasions and spends all your money because you felt like you were invincible. And the next you will feel so depressed because of what you did and the cycle repeats itself. No one here can diagnose you, go see a doctor. Describe your symptoms to your doctor and ask for a referral to a specialist who can help you. It is nothing to be scared of and if you do have it, at least someone will help you learn how to manage your illness.

Would being diagnosed change anything? Unless you take drugs from being diagnosed it won't change your personality at all. Just like schizophrenia there are mild cases that don't require medicine. Well, that's what we think anyway. Let the GP decide.
Being excitable one day and down the next is within the normal range of emotions, people who are Bi-Polar can stay up 24/7 for like ten days or more.

Ever be talk out of suicide? If so, what do you remember roughly speaking the ethnic group who help? & those who inferior?

Sounds like it... Go to the doctor and get evaluated... Thee is medication for that... only a doctor can diagnose this. i am.. well, very young... lol... (i'm a freshman) and diagnosed with the disease(bi-polar/manic depression with psychotic features)... you tend to be very impulsive, the moods a very extreme and very hard to manage... euphoria, sillyness/humor, sadness, rage, and other emotions are far more intense than that of a "regular" person. if you are after all bi-polar... personally i think medecation and other treatments such as shock tharapy, councling, hospitalization, ect. only worsen the problem. but i guess it works for others... i suggest you read the book "manic" by:Terri Cheney... its wonderful, and gives you something to relate to considering family and friends usaully dont understand you when you have this mental illness.

Do I hold a sense of self disorder?

Hi

You are doing the right thing in going to talk to your GP. My suggestion would be that you write down all the thinks that are worrying you or causing you distress, or you could print out what you put in your question here. Take it along with you and then you can either use it to remind yourself or ask the Dr to read it.

Be as open and honest as you can as it will help the Dr to decided on what he things is the best course of treatment for you.

This link to the Mind website should prove useful

Understanding bipolar disorder:
http://www.mind.org.uk/Information/Bookl...

the information is easy to read and understand.

Self diagnosis is never a good idea so let the Dr make that decision. I've given the link just so that you have more understanding about bipolar as an illness.

Please try not to worry too much, you may not be suffering from this illness, or if you are, there is treatment available and it doesn't have to mean the end of your life as you know it.

Take care and good luck with your appointment.

Hai do not you reflect on visit the hospital once contained by a week is really tiresome and boring?

hey well bi-polar can be in many different dimensions
but i think lying awake at night thinking of things is a typical worrying person haha i do that to
i think its good your going to the doctors i would just say to him/her that you are worried about your moods as they change drastically and describe what's been happening just as you have been above.. i don't think you should diagnose yourself because it may just be a stage your going through possibly.. but don't stress this can be treatable there is so many amazing phycologists out there and medications so don't stress
good luck and be honest

What are the effects of drinking beside a brain injury?

I would say if you feel symptoms coming up, try to surpress them and act 'normal'.If that works, then you just have a bit of moodswing. if you really can't overcome your extreme feelings then something is probably not right. I get moodswings like that. sometimes i feel like crying at work all day, but i manage not to show it cos i have to do my job. but i don't think i've got depression. i think if you got it, it must be so bad you just know. some days i feel great, but then i just think thats normal. i think men are just generally a bit emotionally retarded and can't understand how we get moodswings. my ex was the same. if it's only your bf that had said that you're bipolar.. try asking some people around you. like your mom, dad, sis to evaluate you whether you have bi polar personality... but then as a girl... we have hormones that can dictate our emotions... not to mention stress, i do hav days that i am energetic and i have days that i just feel lazy... sometimes when we think, we plan for our future.. and who doesn't want their future to be perfect?
i mean if you are thinking about weird stuffs like... killing or some other violence then that is different..
it's good that you know that you are having mood swings.,..
notice though that when our period comes ( i'm a girl too!) we become irritable and gets angry easily...
but this should stop when our period is over..
but this doesn't stop then you can have your personality checked...
its okey to be moody, i mean its not everytime that we are jolly... but if you think you are crossing the border of sometimes and always.. then go to a psychiatrist..
just have better control of your emtions to balance them out..
remember.. too much of a thing is bad..
hope that helps..

Panic attack??

I don't think what your boy friend is trying to make you think is very reliable.
If you ask any one, they can act happy and energetic one day and little sad and drained of energy the next day.

It has a lot to do with the harmonal changes, your menstral cycle but most important, the situation you are in!
For example if you see someone who makes you happy then you feel good and if you have lost some thing or are tired or couldnot sleep well at night then you become sad and irritated.
Most NORMAL people are like that. But if you have concerns then talk to your doctor who might advise you better and evaluate your symptoms.

Medications for Bipolar are really strong and it is not advisable to take them unless one cannot survive without medication and it is really needed. Some people might be able to stay well by keeping them selves fit and healthy and be surrounded by people who love them and take care of them.
Best of luck and take care.
And ask you BF if he is never sad on one day and happy the other day?

Is this electric treat roughly?

Oh my gosh..i'm going through the same thing here..though I am 35. You are so young. YET, you sound like me when I was 18. Do you get yourself so wound up that you feel as if you could do dangerous things? Or even just things you didn't think through correctly? That could be bi-polar. I have just learned that there are different levels of bi-polar as well.

There is people who get to that MANIC stage of it as I described.

I also question this too. I've been on anti-depressents forever and now a dr if starting me on something for 30 days sort of as a trial since they can't tell me if I'm bi-polar or not. One dr says yes, one dr says no. It's so hard.

The best thing I'd say to do if find a therapist first! and find a psychiatrist. I was never told this when I was your age. I wish I knew at that time.

A therapist is there to TALK to which is so important. Some pysch dr's will talk but not much as I've learned. They basically write out the pill script and send you on your way.

Do you suffer from any panic attacks?

There are tests online I believe that can help you as well if you answer them correctly. Maybe Google search , Tests for bi polar?

Hope this helps!

What is your personal experience beside Depakote ER?

Sounds like me. I thought i had it too about 1 year ago. I went to see a private psychiatrist, one of the best in the area, charging £50 for 15minutes!

She said i have bipolar tendencies, i mentioned similar things to you, being hyper, extremely optimistic, life of the party, rapid thought, inability to sleep, hyper sex drive.
And the next day i would wake up in deep depression, suicidal thoughts would appear, even though i would never do that, it worried me greatly. I know about the talkitive state, or 'talking fits' as you coined it, its hard to control, but possible, once a nutrtional approach is taken, this subsedes, your body is in need of something, it is asking for something, these mood swings occur for a reason.

I read a book called 'Bipolar II' http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bipolar-Creativi...
to my suprise, It praises bipolar's, almost envious of the bipolar IIB beneficial personalities. interesting read, yet it only talked about a liftime of drugs, and no cure. It is a good read whether you do or do not want to go down the drugging for a lifetime route.

Watch the psychetruth videos on youtube for more about the dangers of psychiatric drugs, also a documentery called 'Psychiatry: An industry of death', and read article on mercola.com regarding EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, this will treat the mind, also look into hypnotherapy, self hypnosis or by a clinical hypnotist.

I decided drugs were not the answer, plus i am a medical student, and being diagnosed with bipolar disorder would get me kicked out of med school, or special treatment, or i will have to work part-time as a doctor will less responsibilities, since i will be deemed emotionally instable.

I purchased a book called 'Healing Bipolar Disorder naturally', and other alternative medicine books.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Natural-Medicine...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Natural-Medicine...

I know how your feeling, i did not want the bipolar label. I think mine is bipolar II ultra rapid cycling. I had a health check to check for other diseases with similar symptoms, these include adrenal exhaustion {Addison's disease}, thyroid disorders, epilepsy, brain cancer ect.
All clear. I'd reccommend you do this first, before you worry about having bipolar or not.

I have been doing much research on this, so email me if you ever need help and support, on what to do on your road to recovery. please put IMPORTANT in caps in the title, as my inbox is full with spam/junk.

I have successfully, with a change in diet, lifestyle, and supplements, able to stabilise my condition and improve it by 90%. I still feel depressed from time to time, and hyper, but not as frequently, i miss the highs. I am still working on it, my nutritional program was made by me, i am getting it evaluated and improved by a nutritionist at the Brain Bio Centre in London, theres one in Princeton in USA as well. My nutritional therapist is altering the dosages and getting blood tests to find out what is wrong.

I was found to be high histamine, and pyluria. I reccommend you see a orthomolecular doctor and/or a naturopath/nutritionist.
Please check out these website, they are very helpful:

WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW?

get blood tests/urine, from a nutrition based lab, test for histamine levels, allergies, candida, vitamin/mineral profile, heavy metal toxicity.

Take 1000mg-3000mg, of omega 3 per day, strictly Carlson's brand or Nordic Naturals, this has scientifically proved to improve bipolar symptoms, look at the scientific studies.

Take a multivitamin/mineral

Avoid sugar, replace sugar with Xylitol, a safe sweetener, although more expensive. Abnormal blood sugar levels can cause such symptoms.

SAMe -take 400mg of this when your depressed, dont take this when your high, it will make it worse, sometimes this makes me high, when i was depressed a few hours ago.

Coenzyme Q10 - always gives me an energy boost, 30mg - 100mg per day

Ginkgo Biloba 60mg per day - improves blood flow to the brain

Look into juicing, specifically, Gerson Therapy, although used for cancer patients, it has been shown effective in curing many diseases. I am still researching this, and will be putting this into action soon. Watch 'Dyingtohaveknown' documentery on this, download using bittorrent, torrent i got from a bitche search

Lastly, please dont hesitate to contact me if you need any further help, as a student doctor or as someone who has been there.

Your wise for asking on runeed.com, if i had only done this, it would of relieved alot of suffering, post in the alternative medicine section if u need more info on supplements and alt. medicine.

Best of luck, hope this helps. God bless you.
