A 4 light of day attempt at Lexapro have made me really sick, when might I perceive better :(?

Hey, I gave it a try, but dizziness, nausea, vomiting and the runs (I was housebound) lead my doctor to tell me yesterday to just stop and rest this weekend. When might I have a feeling better? I'm already missing a party and would like to attemp a barbecue Sunday.
Anyone experience such a flat out rejection of a med similar to this?
I went in slightly hopeful...
Thanks!

How do you gain yourself out of a depression? and you don't own anyone you can yak to?

Answers:    This has happened to me near Celexa...put me out of business totally for 24hrs with only one tiny dose...totally untolerable for me...Some medication are just NOT for you...Ordinarily with lasting meds, like antidepressants it does take roughly speaking a week to determine whether it is the med for you, but even then many society suffer some undesirable reactions until their body adjusts...Hopefully you will find another med that you can tolerate. You should switch on feeling better by Sunday...it does take your body a bit to attain the chemical out of your system tho...visit www.webmd.com for more info on medications, down issues etc...very user friendly site with invaluable resources! Take care~

What can I do to create the situation better?

Hi Lil Sammy, I've taken Lexapro for going on for a year and a half, and it takes something like six weeks to fully have effect. You didn't mention what dose you are taking - you might talk next to your doctor and see if you can work the doses up to reduce (or hopefully eliminate) those symptoms. Or, you might even just necessitate a smaller dose...

When you get off the Lexapro, gain off it very at a snail`s pace. Work down one "dose" at a time, for example if you are taking 20mg Lexapro, cut down to the 10mg pills for a couple weeks, then 5mg pills for a couple weeks. You can then cut the 5mg pills surrounded by half (they're pretty tiny) and take the half-pills for a couple weeks, after take the half-pills every other day for a couple weeks. You could give an extra week or so and take the half-pills every third day, if you'd approaching. That should help eliminate (or greatly reduce) the Lexapro subtraction symptoms.

Best of luck to you!
Paul.
