Why is rabies sometimes refered to as hydrophobia?

I was doing some vocabulary homework and while reading the definitions, i notice that rabies was one of them. Is there any history on that?

Answers:    Rabies at one time be also called hydrophobia and as stated because the didn't drink water when infected. This occupancy has gone out of use much the same as calling a tremor a fit has gone out of use. The correct terminology is purely to call it rabies..
Because animals were afraid of hose down.would not drink it.
