What make some family become full blown alcoholics?
Answers: I believe Alcoholism to be a severely debilitating disease.Possibly hereditary.I infer there's something in the brain of an Alci that triggers euphoria( kind of similar to what cig.'s do) In my case; Like you I started drinking on the weekend's. Over a period of almost 35 years I started drinking everyday & finally before ending up contained by the hospitol & rehab., I was drinking the hard stuff every break i got. My reasoning at that time was, Life's problems be getting to tough(stress-kids-divorce-death in the family etc.) I own since become a non-practicing alcoholic for almost 2 years, & have had to swot up all over again how to live life on life's lingo. It's good to have concerns going on for becoming an alci.because I believe it could happen to anybody at anytime. Also keep within mind that non-alcoholic people don't ever think in the order of how much they drink.!! So please beware. Thnx. Your friendly neihborhood Tazman.
I think becoming an alcoholic can be done by anybody. But I think some society have a much higher risk of becoming addicted. Not everyone who take a drink becomes an alcoholic. Some people a moment ago have that as their weakness. Such as if nearby dad was one and the child saw him drinking and stumbling around then nearby is a good chance that he or she will become one as capably. But also sometimes the person had a biddable upbringing and their parents never drank but the person becomes one anyways. It's a enormously complex, confusing, frustarating thing. If some thing really tragic happen or someone close to them dies that can trigger the person to use alchol as a coping mechanism. Even though that doesn't work and it make things so much worse. My Father is an alcoholic has been for so long and his dad be an alcholic too (my g-pa) My brother and I started going down the road of drinking and then my brother realized he have to quit and he did. And was not addicted. I on the other hand become addicted to drugs (pain pills) and I was drinking pretty heavily for about 6months straight. I did quit and never have any withdrawls from the drinking. But my dad does if he tries to quit. So go figure ya know?? I do regard it can happen to anyone at anytime but like I said some ppl are basically more prone to it than others. Why it happens various reason like I said...and how I suppose the body just get so used to having that poison in its system that when the drinker quits the body only just withdrawls..It is confusing I know. If you have just be drinking on the weekends for 20 years and you are not addicted then I say your probability are pretty slim. Unless something tragic or someone really close to you would pass then I hope you don't use alcohol as a approach to cope. Then you could very well finish off up an alcoholic. But that is doubtful. I don't think in that is anything wrong with you drinking on the weekends as long as you are responsible. Ok I hope I helped...I ramble on a lot Sorry about that... I have to give msmarria a low rating
alcoholism is, or can be genetic. but anyone that drinks every week end can become alcoholic.
Go to alanon and ask question . go to a.a. ask questions.
a short time ago do not believe you can always drink on week ends without some consequences.
the time between drinks become a little shorter for example you have Fri stale, and you start a day early. The subsequent thing you will call contained by Monday and drink it is a terrible illness.
Just remember alcohol can be your friend but harm it long enough you will no longer have the control you reflect you have today.
