What is the chemical/name that is used to wake up people when they faint?

Answers:    Do you mean ammonia? The old fashioned "smelling salts" were primarily ammonia, and they used to have ammonia capsules you broke and stuck under peoples' nose when they fainted. Now days you don't really bother, as they will come around when they are ready. Most folks faint due to a drop in blood pressure, and as soon as they go horizontal that corrects itself and they will wake up on their own. No point stuffing something nasty smelling up their nose, it won't speed up the process any..
