What is the best hearing aid for a profound hearing loss?
Answers: Like the previous comment, it depends on how severe your hearing loss is. If you can afford it, try looking into digital hearing aids since you can program it to block out everything if a phone rings, doorbell, or fire alarm goes off. Only an audiologist can assist you in this and they will offer you options based on your audiogram. I am looking into getting hearing aids myself as well and have been told digital hearing aids are the way to go. Best of luck to you! :)
Edit/Add: I noticed you asked this same question several months ago and seemed to be disappointed that no one pointed out a specific brand of hearing aid but that is because everyone has different preferences and audiologists are taught not to be biased towards specific hearing aids so they cannot offer you the "best", only what is available and based on your audiogram and preferences. So I looked up online to find out what the best hearing aid was and only found a site that might help you in deciding what kind of hearing aid to buy. Sorry for the long answer/post..
Only your audiologist can tell you for sure.
You have too many other things to consider, not just the severity of your hearing loss, when picking the right hearing aid (ex. feedback considerations, features, fit, usability, etc).
But if your audiologist isn't much of a help.i'd suggest "shopping" around for another audiologist. Hope that helps!
