Answers: Just to correct you, Salvia isn't a drug, it's just a natural plant, and yes, it is officially recognized as well.
I will warn you though, Salvia isn't something that only gets you feeling high-ranking, Salvia completley smashes your ego away, strips reality, and shows you behind the scene to life..

Everyone else completley over charges for the stuff, it's stupid. You can probably Google for places to find it if you obligation to, but those 3 are the only places that are decent for buying Salvia. Btw remember, it have to be salvia divinorum, if it is Perennial Salvia, or just plain Salvia or whatever, it wont bring back you high. It has to be divinorum. Also take care though cause in some states surrounded by America it is illegal now, not the intact country, just some states.
I would also suggest getting a handheld vaporizer, vaporizers are safer then bongs/pipes/joints, burn cleaner, portable and they catch you more effects out of the herb.
Also when buying Salvia, make sure it is atleast 10x extract, recommend 20x for a beginner. 30x or 40x is for "advanced users" though you could still smoke it as a student, just be prepared...
Last suggestion though, honestly, screw Salvia, it isn't really a "get high" plant, it's more going on for showing you stuff you might not want to see, sending you to other dimensions, making you watch reality unzip around you, it can be pretty alarming obviously. If you just want to attain a real nice high (legally or not), run with something like Planet X, Gold Star, Kratom, Wild Dagga, Nirvana XXX, Chillin XXX, Spice Gold, African Sunset Xtreme etc..

You can get it at a plant nursery, home depot or wal-mart. Make sure you know which variety works for your purposes.
I haven't done what you are proposing but I have read up on it and the problem with Salvia is that it taste horrible..
