Scope Down Throat?
Answers: Daniele, you're going to be freshly fine. Being put under is EXACTLY like going to sleep. The tube piece, you won't even be aware of and because you're out, you wont have a gag reflex and it will be really easy. Eventhough this is unmarked to you, remember that your doctor does dozens of these everyday easily.
Just relax and take the "nap" they pass you, when you wake up all will be right near the world. It's actually quite relaxing, but I twig your nerves now. Once it starts, it will be EASY. Don't waste your time worrying.
Good luck to you (even though you wont inevitability it!) ;o)
Edit:
Well, you must be back and feeling much better huh? Now you know that you're much tougher and stronger than you give yourself credit for! ;o) Glad you're back !.
When they put you out, usually IV sedation, they will tell you to count backwards from 100, usually empire only get to more or less 97, then you're out. When you wake up, you have a feeling kind of weird. You are still kinda groggy. My body feel as though it was still asleep, but I could still hear and follow commands. Then they articulate to you and tell you to open your eyes, but you still perceive really out of it for a while, and your throat will probably feel sore or scratchy for a while if you're getting a scope. You will not touch or remember anything from the procedure.
Its scary, but try to relax. Getting there is the worst segment, once you're out, it seems to you like minutes following you're waking up and then the scariest element is over.
Good Luck!!.
Hi Danielle. Generally when you get an upper endoscopy done
(Scope down your throat), they use what is called IV conscious sedation. They will start an IV on you and impart you some really good medicine that will totally relax you. You are gentle of in between sleep and consciousness. Then they will numb your throat with a spray anesthetic. The procedure take no time and you probably won't remember a thing. As for be totally under, near the tube down your throat, you wouldn't remember that either. I didn't. Good luck tomorrow. You'll be fine:)
