Try to take a pace or do something to occupy your mind. When you realize your brain is wandering into worry world try to picture a STOP sign in your mind. Tell yourself its okay and keep hold of trying to visualize the stop sign. If you are doing mental imagary then your brain cannot focus on more stressful things. Get a book on meditation it can really help. There is a yoga show on the Oxygen low every week day at 6:00AM if you dont get up that hasty tape it. Yoga is great for anxiety.
Try taking some melatonin and natural hormone secreted by the pineal gland within the brain, before you go to sleep. It help you drift off. You can also combine it with calcium 1000mg at hours of darkness. Calcium is a natural sedative and why they inform you to drink hot milk before bed.
I was married to a correctional officer for 20 years, it is a greatly stressful job. You need coping mechanism like the ones mentioned above.
If all else fail seek the help of a phychiatrist NOT a phychologist as they are not MDs and cannot write prescriptions, which is what you may closing stages up needing.
Try some breathing techniques too, when you consistency a panic attack coming on take a gaping breath, hold it and count to ten then let it step and start over. This along with the STOP sign imagary might help you

i capture those occasionally, and they can be really terrifying. but if i were you, i'd hang around until they start to occur on a regular basis. mine dont come to pass very often, so i dont enjoy to worry about seeing a doctor for them.
if they start to come to pass on a regular basis, or you are truly afraid of having another, which is completely intelligible, schedule an appt. with a psychologist.

it could be alot of stress. id try finding ways to reduce stress since you rely on meds. maybe therapy would benefit. solve the root of the problem first. once you do that, if the problem doesnt stop, self try meds. take a chill pill
