at my work someone dumped tube light bulbs into a trash can. we cleaned the can out with cleaner. we still used the can to dump trash and i wore gloves everytime i took the stacks out. but i feel like in that is "mercury" on my right hand and i get the attitude i cannot touch food and sallow the food because i'll get "posined" and that i also cannot touch my body or pave the way because i feel something bad will occur. My question is, if mercury were to catch on someones hand, when they go to purify it off, is it still there or is it gone? And will i be ok i close-fisted it happened a couple months back but it's at the point where on earth i feel like i can't touch anything.

Answers:    Oh man, the medium can really create problems. Is it GOOD to be exposed to mercury ? No. Is it like cyanide deadly ? No. I am 56 years behind the times. When I was a kid I had collected a orb of mercury the size of a golf ball and would roll it around in my hand and on my stomach while I watched TV. I also used to chew lead sinkers while I fished. We also used to play "mummy" surrounded by the basement and wrap each other contained by this gray asbestos tape from head to foot. So much for the dread of mercury poisoning, lead poisoning; and asbestosis. AND I smoked 2 packs a morning for over 30 years and I'm STILL here.
