I have be thinking for awhile as to why meditate at all. My friends give me a few reasons bringing up the rear why to meditate such as health and social benefits. However, I still own my doubts if it is really worth the trouble to get into meditation. Has anyone tried this surrounded by the past? Thanks.

There are a couple of simple techniques for silent meditation as in good health. You do not have to sit on the floor. You can sit beside erect back on a stool. Many people articulate try for 15 minutes twice a day. I say aloud start with a simpler objective - 5 minutes twice per day. The benefits include stress admin and relaxation benefits which help the body, increased mindfulness and focus, and increased spirit. The mindfulness can be a benefit to your spiritual life, but meditation also have "non-spiritual" benefits. Here are two easy technique:

Breathing meditation - 1) Check posture. 2) Close your eyes and relax. 3) Focus on your breath entering and leaving your body. 4) Count breaths mentally one to four. Repeat. 5) Don't be at odds a wandering mind, but calmly direct it wager on to task. 6) Sit for a minute afterwards.

"Mantra" technique (choose a personal "calm" word or phrase that you will repeat within your meditation - it can be from your religion or something as simple as "one" or "calm" – I use the nonsectarian “Be One. Be Peace” or “Be One. Be Love. Be Peace.”) - 1) and 2) as above in the Breathing meditation. 3) Listen to your breathing and permit it relax you with respectively breath. 4) Once you are relaxed, mentally "hear" your "calm" word or phrase in your mind. Let it repeat within your mind. 5) Don't fight a wandering mind, but sensibly direct it back to charge. 6) Sit for a minute afterwards.

That is all in that is to these very simple but beneficial meditation technique. Many people judge that something "mystical" should happen during meditation. Most normally "nothing" happens and "nothing" should be expected.

Oh yes, and it didn't cost me anything to swot up nor were in that any "initiations" involved.

POWER CUT Food sanctuary and compensation question?

I (and many other residents nearby) have a power cut on Monday lasting around 2 hours, afterwards another one today.

I don't know when today's one started, I was out from around 11.30am, I returned at something like 2.30pm to no electricity.

I have no insurance of any description, but I have a fridge and colossal freezer full of food. I have a disabled daughter and a 3 year older son, I can't take probability with food!

My electricity go on again at about 5.45pm.

I am worried more or less the "shelf life" of my food now, after power cuts of give or take a few 2 hours on Monday and then at tiniest 3, possibly 5 1/2 hours today.

I am on a tight budget but don't want to poison my kids!

Anyone know what my chances are of getting any formal compensation or a customer services "goodwill" type of payment?
