i had something massively similar back surrounded by january. it got worse when i breathed within, yawned, etc. along with the torment it felt almost as if my chest wall be grinding against my ribs. i went to the doctors after have it for a week and went for a chest x-ray. he call the pain "pleurisy" and at the time i have walking pneumonia to go along beside it.
something else it could be is if you pulled a chest muscle. thats what i was told initially but the x-ray ruled that out. i would try to see a doctor as soon as you can.
