Health Question

Why do population utter, 'Bless you' when you sneeze and not when you cough?

Where did the tradition of saying 'Bless you' come from after one sneezes?

Answers:
There are tons variations as to why we utter Bless You, or God Bless you when we sneeze.
At one time people believed a man's soul could be inadvertently thrust from his body by an explosive sneeze, thus "Bless you!" be a protective oath uttered to safeguard the temporarily expelled and vulnerable soul from person snatched up by Satan (who was other lurking nearby). The purpose of the oath was to imprint a temporary shield over the flung-out soul which would protect it merely long enough to regain the protection of the corporeal body. Conversely, the sneeze itself be the expulsion of a demon or evil spirit which had taken up residence within a person. Therefore, although the "Bless you!" be again a protective charm meant to protect the sneezer from evil, surrounded by this version it be meant to escape the re-entry of an evil spirit which a tormented soul had newly rid itself of.

Another one is:
The heart was believed to momentarily stop during a sneeze (it doesn't), thus the "Bless you!" be uttered either as a supplication for time to return or as a congratulation upon its successful restart.

Other than that, I do not know anymore. Good question!
Because when you sneeze your heart in reality stops beating for that enormously second. Or at least that's what I've be told anyways.
The old wives yarn was that your heart stopped when you sneezed. People thought the devil or evil spirits would try to carry your soul while your heart stopped. So, people said bless you to protect the creature.

Today though, we know that a person's heart does not really stop when they sneeze. :)
Where i'm from there's an old wives anecdote that says if you sneeze, your spirit temporarily leaves your body. People voice 'bless you' or variants of it so fruitless spirits would not possess your 'spirit-less' body while your own spirit tries to make its agency back. :)
It come from WAYYYYY back. It be thought that when a person sneezes it is a sign that they will die soon. So to prevent the relatives from dying, they would say God Bless You... soo you don't croak tomorrow. hehe. I saw this years ago on the t.v. on the history subway.
pshhh! I say cough you
powerfully its asign of respect for people
"Ring a ring a roses, A pocketful of posies, A’tissue! A’tissue!, We adjectives fall down!"
Saying "Bless you" or "God bless you" be thought to be a way of warding rotten the evil spirits that caused the plague, or so the general public of Medievil Europe thought. Sneezing was a sign of the coming the plague on someone, so they used to enunciate Bless you to ward if off.
I have to sneeze right after reading this. How weird. :)

And nobody is here to articulate bless you. I'm in trouble.
I hear it's all to do next to the plague, and sneezing was a sign of have caught it back consequently, so to bless someone after a sneeze was to bless them if they have plague!
I believe it comes from the time of the plague in London. Sneezing be a sign that you had caught it and culture said Bless you as in God Bless you you're going to die soon.

The rhyme Ring a Ring a Roses also comes from one and the same time. A pocket full of posies (flowers to keep smells at bay)Atishoo, Atishoo, we adjectives fall down (you sneeze afterwards you die).
It comes from the days of the Black Death (the Plague), when people sneezed they invariably died soon after, so aphorism "bless you" was done to bless them surrounded by death, THAT IS THE ACTUAL TRUE STORY.
'Aitchoo, aitchoo, we adjectives fall down.'
Remember this ditty? It comes from 'Ring a ring a roses, pocket full of poesies.' The ditty relates to the Black Death that swept Europe.
The sneeze (aitchoo) intended the person be going to die.
So 'god bless you' was uttered to bless the human being before they died.

Another explanation is logically that everytime one sneezes a little bit of time leaves one with the force of the sneeze. I close to the first explanation.
Back in the Old Country, folks thought your spirit be expelled when you sneezed. Saying bless you meant you have a better chance of have the spirit leap back into your body since the Devil heeee--sssself got ya!
What I well-read was whenever a individual sneezes, their heart skips a beat (I don't know if it is really true or not), so dictum Bless You gives the character back the hammer they lost. If I am alone and sneeze, I bless myself...old behaviour die hard. I listen to doctors (via headphones) adjectives day and, yes, out of need, if one sneezes, I will say Bless You..

Sounds like Kirsty and Dio (sorry if I spelled anything wrong) own the right idea. This really does nouns like psoriasis. You should see a dermatologist to confirm this back trying to treat it.

However, Dio has the right notion about your shampoo and conditioner. If it is psoriasis, they conceivably be irritating your scalp further. Use the treatments she mentioned (use more vinegar if you have product buildup), and don't put any conditioner fundamental your scalp if you can manage it - it's not for your scalp anyway, it's for your hair). Once you see a dermatologist, they can speak about you what to do next.

Yes there can be a plateau but beside secondary or primary progressive any disability accumulate between 'active ' episodes will remain permanently, beside relapsing remitting disability may be minimal and may with phsio etc. clear up almost completely, inopportunely for some of us the disabilty can remain, yet still be classified as relapsing remitting - adjectives very confusing! Secondary progressive (if the soul becomes secondary) is usually diagnosed 10-15 years after an initial dx of RR, ie they do not suffer relapses but a progressive course - which can be particularly gradual and SLOW! Please don't be alarmed by the answer from 'a nurse', there is singular one form of MS which is very, immensely rare next to a bleak outlook! Any neurologist or nurse that alks in lingo of 'end stages' in relation to PPMS or SPMS is conversation nonsense. It is unanimously accepted now that MS MAY reduce average lifespan by 5 years (that's apossibility not a uncompromising!)

I am assuming that the nurse who answered is NOT and MS specialist nurse - we still get answers close to that from medical 'professionals', who if they don't have experience of - shouldn't really state alarming things resembling that!

Please look at www.mssociety.org.uk, you'll find lots of info and links there, you can also access the carer's board and everyday living, as can your friend and cooperate to people who live near this everday, ask questions and simply generally own a moan - if so inclined! It gets to adjectives of us sometimes!

I hope your friend (and yourself) are well! Please remember that the course of this illness/condition can oscillate enormously from individual to individual, so adjectives anyone can tell you is from their own experience, even neuros can't make a contribution a definitive answer as to how an individual will be affected or for how long! Also hold a look at www.msnurses.co.uk, there is a pretty angelic chart on there that will make a contribution you an idea of how PPMS and SPMS courses tend to budge!

Thank you CJ, it's so complex an issue, I have RR but am substantially more disabled than family I know with both SP and PP! - MS may be a existence sentence but it's NOT a death sentence!
True but also true is that within are many misdiagnosis of the condition..

If MS it can plateau and not transfer for years.
Depends on how you take perfectionism of yourself. My wife tries her hardest to not go through episodes. She have one about 2 years ago and it took in the region of 6 months for her to get over it. But she does whip care of herself and she doesn't hold episodes all the time. All the shots and charge that you take for yourself simply helps the time between respectively episode. But yes, there are times when everything is regular, but that doesn't mean it's gone. Just pilfer care of yourself and wallow in the time you have near your family.
This is unsophisticatedly true although the search for a cure is still exceptionally much underway. Many sufferers appear to have benefited from alterations within their diet like adding together sunflower or evening primrose oils. People beside this disease need to be driven to adopt a positive outlook and lead as helpful life as they are competent. Psychotherapy can also help contained by many cases.
i enjoy ms rrms i was diagnosed ultimate year i have have three releapses in a year be on steriods twice and i am on avonex once a week and go within oxygen chambver once a week got to be postive and try ur best its firm but take watchfulness and all the best right luck u are helping ur friend by finding out information which helps thats polite of u ms affect plp differntly wish u adjectives the best and keep up the righteous work
If it is progressive MS it means it have got to a stage where on earth the symptoms are worsening and it is progressing to its final stages.

Most people hold been describing relapsing-remitting MS

Unfortunately progressive MS is the worst type,

Hope this help your research xx
Thank you Maude! That explanation was spot on. The prime difference between the progressive forms and the relapsing forms are what happens to symptoms. In the progressive forms of the disease, nearby is no clear "relapse" and "remission," just a steady worsening of symptoms. As mentioned, it can plateau, but once you hold the symptoms, you're stuck with them. Relapsing forms of the disease show clear period of exacerbation and recession (although may not be complete).

Please don't lose faith. This disease does not own the mortality rates that some people approaching to describe. With proper disease management and symptom supervision, even progressive patients can live a nearly normal, full natural life.

Stateside, you can contact the National MS Society at http://www.nmss.org.

Good luck!
