I have another tooth abcess but the Dentist won't prescribe me antibiotics until he see me. They say he can't simply prescribe because he hasn't see me for some time - but we are told that once a year is enough.Answers:
Its not that we dont know our bodies, its that we haven't be trained to fix them.

They can't prescribe tablets over the phone because they haven't diagnosed anything. They can't assume that you know it is an infection, what if it is something else? They have their job at stake here.
Antibiotics have to be prescribed and so a doctor/dentist has to see you. If they bear the word of every patient they would shutting down up prescribing wrongly.
He has to see your condition, he can't simply give you antibotics if you don't want them, you'll eventually become resistant to it which is why they should be used sparingly.
Also, it's a liability issue. He's not going to risk his license for your convienence. Should something go wrong because he blindly perscribed medication to you, he'd be screwed.
