I had that for YEARS and nobody could explain it. It's completely rare to achieve one now but for 25 years I suffered next to it. I finally figured it out...it be all end in from stress. It seemed that the minute my body relaxed, in recent times prior to falling off to sleep...I'd win this bolt of electricity from the hip down. Man it scared the duration out of me. It felt resembling my whole body be raised a foot rotten the bed. The worst part be never being competent to learn what cause it. Stress was not next on the medical maps as a problem at that time. But i.e. all it is...cram to meditate and think seriously something like what is causing this stress contained by your life...to be exact the only cure to controlling it. Think of it as a alarm sign from God. Stress can cause lots of problems on the body. Hint: People are the biggest stressors. Best of Luck.

I have not individually, but have read around some who have and died. It repressed their breathing while they slept and so they never woke up.

DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine with anticholinergic (drying) and soporific properties that is used to treat allergic reaction. Histamine is released by the body during several types of allergic reactions and--to a less important extent--during some viral infections, such as the common cold. When histamine binds to its receptors on cell, it causes change within the cell that lead to sneezing, itching, and increased mucus production.
