Allopathy is conventional medicine practiced by physicians who graduate from medical conservatory and write ^aEURoeMD^aEUR or "DO" after their names.
Ayurveda will never fully replace Allopathy because the traditional does not evolve to accommodate the current discoveries in synch next to the times.
Allopathy will always embrace emerging technology -- the new imaging modalities, surgical technique, genetic and cell therapies, pharmaceuticals and other aspects of conventional drug.
Ayurveda will still rely on the 'trusted tried and true' traditional therapies upon which it is base for eons.
Most certainly in that is adequate room for both but I don't really see them man totally complementary given the cultural differences and the industrial aspects of corporate medicine's money making apparatus.
The field of 'holistic' drug is more in tuned next to Ayurveda but it lacks the mainstream support enjoy by practitioners of Allopathy.
