Vitamins aren't BAD for you, but it excess, they can be extremely bad for your health, more instantaneous results are nausea, or even vomiting.
But what's best for you? Honestly, that all depends on your diet, if you don't get enough vitamin C for example, your best choice would be a Vitamin C pill. Just try to keep track of what you eat and find out what you need and what you don't, THEN go look for your pills..
I would avoid most mulit-vitamins that you can buy at a drug/grocery store; most of them have a lot of additives and you end up peeing the bulk of the vitamin out. I suggest going to a chiropractic office or something similar to purchase a multi-vitamin, they are allowed to carry pharmaceutical grade vitamins. I take 18 in one. They are hands down the best vitamin. They cover every possible category of things you would want in your body. Since I started taking them, my health has improved ten-fold and I have more energy than I have ever had. At least check them out!.
For a woman the best one would be a women's multivitamin as they are specifically designed for female health.
