Answers: Empty laudry detergent bottles, they make excellent sharps containers. I worked surrounded by home health for many years and undesirably many of the patients who receive these services are at or below poverty level and accordingly cannot afford such things as medical sharps collectors. The laundry detergent bottles can safely be put in the rubbish without the worry of injuring the rubbish man or the person who carries the scrap out for you.

You can purchase a ''Sharps Container" from any Home Hospice or Health Supply store. These containers allow you to drop the used need into the container and it can't be tolerate out again because of the lid it has on it. I used to work at a doctors office and we permitted patients containers that were full and we'd dispose of them. If you can't do that, ask someone at the Hospice Store, they might have a better model. As for medicine bottles, remove your fathers signature, address, doctors name, address, any personal info, etc. and either recycle or throw them away. Fisrt you must bend respectively needle tip so they will not ever get used again, and next use a laundry soap bottlej to store them in untill you need to put the min the refuse. DO NOT use plastic milk jugs as people can see thru them. In this drug user world we live within, drug people who might even think you are using syringes will be looking for needles to re use. bending or breaking past its sell-by date needle tips with pliers keep us all safer..
Put them in a sturdy milk decanter,laundry soap jug or a coffee can,with a lid . Double pack them in plastic and toss in your trash. I do contained by home health care and this is how we are trained to dispose of medical gamble away.Depends and other medical waste such as blood and urine soaked items get doubled bag in plastic and thown in the trash. The Pharmacy can lend you a container to put the needles within, when it is full the Pharmacy will exchande it for you. My mom is also a diadetic..
