How come people take drugs?
Answers: Cheap thrills, curiosity, depression.Sometimes it's a lack of caring about what happens to them, and drugs offer them a temporary distraction from their problems. Rebellion is also another reason...ie. mom and dad say NO, so what better reason to do it? STUPIDITY... Release from pain (esp. in the case of marijuana and prescription pills). Peer pressure and the fear of not fitting in.
How the list does go on.
Variety of reasons. Some people get caught up into it because the people around them do it. Some hate their lives and want to escape.
And then there are a few like me who just love the feeling so much that are willing to take that risk.
I'm doing pretty good thus far, I don't let drugs rule my life, it's just a recreational activity for me..
People take drugs in order to treat illnesses.

It is generally believed that people take (recreational) drugs to feel good, but it is more accurate to say they take drugs to feel nothing when they are hurting. Well, People take drugs as a way to escape the problems of the real world. Others will do it for the great amount of feelings obtained..
Just to be numb from whatever they may be hurting from.. It is a sure way to change their state of mind.
