Answers: I think the only solution to this is sticking it out. The same entity happened to my friend and the only solution is to stay away from the alcohol for a while and your sleep cycle will eventually return to commonplace. Your body has become dependent on drinking and the only channel to end this is to go through withdrawl.
Just so you know my friend get through it and only drinks occassionally now. Good luck!
Another tip- bring off the computer now the bedside light from computers and televisions stimulate the brain and will keep you awake.
I used to suffer from a similar problem, but minus the involvement of alcohol. I would just lay there and toss and turn, next end up getting 3 to 4 hours of off and on sleep. I'd catch up in a horrible mood and it would usually remain that way for the rest of the hours of daylight. Now, here's how I, and hopefully you, fixed the problem. Go to your local drug score and buy melatonin tablets. Melatonin is a chemical in the body required for sleep. The tablets have both 300 micrograms of that and a tremendously large size of Vitamin B6, another compound that aids in healthy sleep pattern. Take 3 of these nightly and slowly decrease the amount of alcohol you drink on those nights (there are no adverse effects when combining alcohol and melatonin). Also, do not chomp through less than 3 hours before bed, since an busy stomach will lead to an active body. Follow these steps for a few weeks (or less) and your troubles will be gone. If for any common sense these steps don't work, go to a doctor and allow him or her to try to find reasons for your insomnia, and possibly prescribe a sleeping pill of some sort. Good luck. My Doc told me, to reduce alcohol having a bet smaller number each night, and when I could not sleep. find up and have a toast or something other food and than go to sleep again, if I could sleep for an hour, I be going to recuperate. Try to contact a sleep disorder clinic in your area and report to them what's going on. If you cannot find one, contact a pychological counseling type of place or a hospital. You've got to do something about this.
