Alopecia - has any one experienced going through a metal detector with a wig which has metal hair clips?
Answers: Yes, I have. Many times. I wear a wig that has four metal clips to attach it to the little hair I have. I have gone through metal detectors at airports and government buildings numerous times over the past three years and have never once set the thing off. But, boy was I worried about it the first time!!
If you have more clips, I guess the likelihood of setting off the detector would increase. If that happens the person will wave a wand over your body to determine where the problem is--you can tell them you wear a wig with metal clips and when the wand goes near your head they will understand. I guarantee they will not make you take it off in front of them. If they did need to verify this for some reason (which I sincerely doubt) they would take you to a private area.
But, really, don't worry. I have NEVER set a metal detector off for my wig..
no i havent experienced it but i am sure it willl go off.just tell them that you have it and that is why.if the person i a jerk though they will probably make you take it off but i they are considerate they probably wont..
