I saw my "Baby Daddy" today and he looked thin and sickley. His facade was scabby and he fell asleep on me mid-sentence. He have a history of drug use, but when I asked him if he was ok, he told me that he be just tired from staying up in arrears the previous night. I tried to confer him the benefit of the doubt because my daughter idolizes him (ugh!), but am worried and wondered what your thoughts are on my continuing their interaction. How can I find out more just about his health?

Answers:    You can't unless he volunteers the information. From what you describe, he sounds resembling he is on methamphetamines. If his teeth are looking nasty also, after that's what I would suspect. I would never leave your daughter alone near him, just to be not detrimental. You could try to see if a "friend" of his might give you some info, but that's a long shot.

There is little you can do for him, but it sounds as though there could be a meth problem going on. I would be concerned around you daughter spending too much time with him. Have you be tested for HIV and Hep C? Those are other possible medical conditions that could cause what you mention, but so can diabetes when departed untreated. Talk to him about your concern for his vigour.
