Hey there, I'm doing a bit of research into an article I want to write and I'm wondering what are some of the craziest or a short time ago plain *wrong* medical treatments practiced in times gone by. Strange cures, weird medication...that sort of thing. If you know something in the order of medical history, please fill me within!

Answers:    People used to ingest balls of mercury because they thought it held special "powers"

People used to drain bodily fluids by "bleeding" them or heaps other various methods to grasp rid of body fluids because they thought that when people get sick their fluids were "out of wack" and needed to be equalized.

Up until not to long ago surgeons would not use any form of anesthetic and have no idea of germs, going from one lenient to another.

Can't think of others at the moment but their are plenty.
