I was a short time ago reading a question on here in the order of Amphetamine use and it reminded me of a time years back when it be a big problem where I lived.A lot of my friends be doing amphetamines on a regular basis one within particular be pregnant and continued to take it throughout her pregnancy.I be just wondering if anyone know what the long term desecrate would have be to her child.Lot's of studies have be carried out on children born to mothers who have taken Heroin or Cocaine but I've never hear what problems babies,children and teengaers experiance having be born to a mother addicted to amphetamines.Does anyone know?

There is no data that suggests an increase within the risk of congenital anomalies in a tot born to a mother addicted to amphetamines. Whilst recent studies associate amphetamine use during pregnancy with superior than expected risks for heart defects, cleft lip and palate and small intestine astresias (condition surrounded by which a passage within the body is abnormally closed or missing), none of these studies involved amphetamine use *alone* but a bit multiple drug use.

But consideration should be given to the fact that amphetamines may severely affect caring nutrition (due to their anoretic effect) prior and during pregnancy.

There is also the possibility of the newborn experiencing amphetamine withdrawal syndrome (jitteriness, drowsiness, respiratory distress).

One study noted that body cargo, length, and head circumference be significantly decreased contained by neonates born to mothers who abused methamphetamines during pregnancy. However, the frequency of congenital anomalies was not significantly increased contained by this group.
