When you stand or walk you place greatly of pressure on the outside of your feet. This locks the forefoot onto the rearfoot and creates a stable platform for propulsion and help stablise all the bulk it needs to support. If you have 2 left foot, one would not lock correctly and you would look pretty funny, although there are family out there next to similar problems who adapt compensatory mechanism to help assert a relatively normal life span.
