High blood pressure and heart rate?

My girlfriend went to the doctor today for a check up. The doctor checked her blood pressure and resting heart rate and found them to be unusually high-ranking. Not sure what her first BP value be but the second was around 90. Her resting heart rate be around the 140-150bpm region.

She has never have any pains or discomfort nor any feeling of a race heart or similar symptoms of any sort. She is also only 20 years ancient. It turns out her mother has have thyroid problems in yesteryear, which ive heard can impose similar symptoms to those my girlfriend is experiencing. However, i am wondering if it might be occuring for some other, hopefully more mundane reason?

She have an ecg test planned next week so they can check her up, and is have a blood test at some point this week. Im justifiably worried about her, so be just wondering if anyone have had a similar experience, and what it turned out to be.

Thanks

Answers:    Hi,

The situation next to your girlfriend is that she has a outstandingly fast tachycardia (fast heart rate) of 150. It is impossible to interpret the blood pressure in need knowing the systolic (first figure) although 90 diastolic is just on the borderline. If the heart rate is so large, the blood pressure is more likely to be low, but can be any and we do not know.

In hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) the heart rate is fast, but unlikely to be this rapid.

This sounds like an arrhythmia, possibly a bursting SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) which means it originate above the ventricles, usually the atria. She should have a 24 hour ECG to see if it shows any episodes of this or any other arrhythmia, as resourcefully as TFTs (thyroid function tests) and FBP (full blood picture) by blood test to exclude other cause.

SVT can be caused by stress, and is smoothly treated. Does she pass a sizeable volume of urine after an attack? This is a typical symptom due to change contained by the the balance of ANH (atrial natriuretic hormone). Also, an attack can sometimes be abort by drinking some cold water which increases vagal stir.

I hope this helps. Please IM me if you obligation more info.
Thyroid problems can be hereditary. She could impressively well enjoy the same problem that her mother have. I would continue next to the EKG and let the doctor do some more test and checks with the heart. Better to be not dangerous than sorry.
