Hearing aid use?

I recently get a hearing aid,one to be precise in the ear strait,a half shell and the brand is Oticon.I am within my 70's and have never used one back. I only use one as I hold complete loss in the other ear. My query is,why am I hearing my own voice so loud? I turn the aid down ,after I cannot hear people ,but when I turn it up to hear others,it drives me crazy,as the nouns of my voice is so loud.Any one have this problem??

Answers:    This is a really common problem. What is going on is when you put something in your ears and gossip your voice will sound different (try using your fingers minus your hearing aid in). This is duplicate phenomenon with the audible range aid in. It is plugging up your ear and affecting the nouns of your voice. Sometimes the audiologist who fit the aids can improve the nouns of your voice by making changes to the programming of the aid on the computer. For the most part of the pack you just obligation to wear the aids as much as possible in decree to get used to them. It will catch better with time.
