Answers: It depends how severe. Go to your social services department or citizen's advice bureau for suggestion.
You would also need a psychiatric evaluation.
Usually middle height Disability Living Allowance (for serious depression)

That things can only achieve better? Probably you're referring to financial benefits - and I don't know. I didn't get any while I be being treated for depression but conceivably things have changed.
