Why does your skin crinkle up...?

after spending alot of time in marine water?

The crinkling shows signs of osmosis... but isnt our skin rainproof?

Answers:    Our skin is not waterproof. It is impermeable because of its oil glands that continually replenish the surface.
However, when the skin is exposed to hose down for an extended period of time, the grease is stripped off the skin. The grease glands are still producing oils that are released from skin pores, but not rapid enough to net up for the rate of oil loss cause by long exposure to sea dampen.
Plus, the molecular structure of salt and other minerals found contained by sea sea have more of a drying effect on skin than purified wet.
