Anemia.... 8.6 hemoglobin?

I was diagnosed near anemia about 8 months ago and up until around a month ago i was taking iron. I have it checked last month and it be back up to twelve....and my doctor told me that if i considered necessary i could stop taking the iron and just guzzle healthy. But today at conservatory we were research differnet things that a nurse had to do and i volunteered to own my hemoglobin checked as a demo. but when we checked it was 8.6 she told me that be low.

I was lately wondering how low is considered dangerous and what should i do.

Do you come up with that it will go final up on it's own or will it get worse.

Also what types of test will my doctor do when i go see her going on for this i am worried.......one of the nurses today said that blood transfusions are normally considered when your hemoglobin get this low!

Thanks for your help!!

Answers:    Normal hemoglobin level should be 12-16 for women and 13-18 for men. Anything under to be precise reason for concern. The lower the numbers, the more treacherous the situation. The problem is that hemoglobin transports oxygen to your cells. When the hemoglobin get low, your body can't take contained by enough oxygen to sustain adjectives the cells. Your body starts shunting blood to your inner organs and away from your extremities. So, the human being with anemia have cool, pale skin, an intolerance to cold, and feel generally tenancy and fatigued. If left alone, the problems increase and can include heart arrhythmias, murmurs, hypotension, and difficulty breathing.

Because your anemia get better with taking iron, I outstandingly recommend that you start taking iron supplements again as well as following up beside your doctor. If the anemia is caused by too little iron surrounded by your diet (or too little B12 or folic acid), it won't get better on it's own - you own to consume more of it in in some way. As far as tests be in motion, your doctor will probably order blood drawn for a complete blood count (CBC). That will judge your hemoglobin and hematocrit as well as count your red and white blood cell and platelets. Since you're still walking and talking, you probably won't bring back a transfusion. If you were bleeding adjectives over the place or so weak you couldn't seize up, then your doctor would present you a transfusion - they won't give you one unless it's 100% important.
