How long does an MRI second for?
I own to get one tomorrow and I hear that ethnic group get terrified of them but no one have told me how long the test in fact lasts for.
Answers: Different MRIs will ultimate for different amounts of time. Where I work (on an open MRI unit), we allow an hour for a brain in need and then beside contast. A brain with strong, detailed slices through the pituitary or inner ear takes almost an hour and 15 minutes. But, a noncontrast brain only take about 35-40 minutes. A knees or a shoulder takes nearly 45 minutes. A spine study, of the cervical or thoracic or lumbar area, take about 40-50 minutes. If you hold had surgery on the nouns of the spine we are imaging, you will need an injection of contrast. The spare imaging adds nearly 15 minutes to the non-contrast study.
The length of the exam will also vary on what type of tool. Exams usually take longer on plain machines. Call the facility where you are planned and ask them how long your specific study will take. Then, you will enjoy your most accurate guesstimate!
usually 30-45 minutes
