How long should I "stick it out" since getting antibiotics?

I read that if you take an antibiotic too soon it will butcher the organism off earlier your body's immune system has time to develope antibodies to it. First, is this true? And if so, should I hang around a while before going to the doctor and getting antibiotics? I stuck it out three days: headache; yellow/green mucus; sinus congestion; throat tenderness; drowsiness; etc. - should I have waitied longer for my body to spar back (it didn't appear like it be fighting too well). Thanks!

If you have question like this it might be a moral idea to simply be paid a call to your doctor. Let them product the decision.

I don't believe surrounded by being my own doctor when it comes to infections since I don't own a license to practice medicine.
