at night you are breathing through your mouth because your sinuses are congested and you can't draw from enough nouns through your nose, that dries your throat and the mucus and stuff out and your sinuses would be continually draining mucus down your throat at matching time ...
if it is a little green, simply try some decongestants and allergy meds (antihistamines) ... if it is really green, you may have a sinus infection, check beside your doctor ...
(gargling with saline water can sustain get some of that out ... using a nasal saline rinse might back, too)
It could be mucus.
Talk to your doctor, but it doesn't sound too serious, they can of late give you antibiotics
