I took 2 benilyn for my cold, and i am on Zoloft. It warn not to appropriate MAOIs but am i at risk still??
Answers: I am not a nurse, doc, or anything, but I have Lippincott's Nursing Drug Guide and looked those 2 meds up.
Both of them put on alert that simultaneous use of MAOIs nay cause serious and/or homicidal reactions. The book does not enunciate that either one IS an MAOI. There are websites where on earth you can check meds, side effects, drug-drug interactions, etc. You might want to look there. The links are below.
If you are still concerned something like the safety of the 2 meds together, you may want to consult a nursing guidance hotline or with your doctor. I own Kaiser and they have a special number for member to call for nurse counsel and they evaluate whether you need to be see by a doc, etc.
In the future, check interactions, etc., BEFORE you steal the med. Hope you feel better!
Zoloft is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) not an MAOI. You'll be fine.
