I smoke pot almost every night using a pipe. I inhale intensely and hold it in and cough. I don't smoke cigarettes anymore (quit 2 years ago) but I hold trouble quitting pot. I am 40. I have be smoking weed since the age of 18. What are the risks of developing emphesema or lung cancer? I see all kind of conflicting accounts on the web. Doctors other tell you to quit smoking pot because they enjoy to. What is the truth?

Answers:    There is always a hazard any time you inhale something into your lungs. Pot doesn't have the chemicals similar to the manufactured tobacco products, but it definitely will trash lung tissue with time. It will be tough to find relevant studies on the topic of cancer and or emphysema near pot smoking.
