Answers: Look dear,I'm myopic too& you can't picture what happened to me.When I be 16,my eyesight was 6/6.
But I suffered some problems that made me cry.It be when I saw the events in Palastine.I kept crying year & night until I become myopic.
I know that's not sense & I know no relation between crying & getting myopia.But it really happened.
Anyway,that time I have simple myopia,about -1.However,I din't wear my specs then,so it get worse now.
All I involve you to do is keeping your glasses on,to preserve your delusion & just know if your eye verbs is without eyeglasses is -4 or about 6/60 & beside glasses 6/6,next that's so great.No problem at all & thankfulness Allah it's corrected.
About myopia itself & concerning your question,
I consider you have congenital myopia characterized by +ve clan history ,dating since birth,doesn't exceed -10 diopters & very few complication if any.
Other types are simple myopia,starts roughly age 12-15 years ,also low grade myopia & almost no complication.
And in that exists malignant myopia,very hazardous,starts around school age ,i.e 6 year dated,reaches enormously bd level,may make -30 diopters,almost always associated beside complications like retinal detachement.
About cause of myopia,
It depends on 1-anteroposterior diameter of the eye.
The larger the diameter ,the greater the myopia & every 1 mm increase in that diameter cause -3 change within our eyesight.That distance if increased the rays falling on retina will form the image infront of it & logo will be hazy.
2-it lso depends on refractive index of our cornea & lens .
And you can see that from recent modalities of ttt.
e.g lasik surgery depends on decreasing corneal concreteness by ablating a stratum of corneal stroma to decrease its refractive index,so that metaphors will be formed on retina & not infront as I mentioned.
Also,lens surgery may resort to removing the lens only surrounded by very high-ranking grades of myopia.
From all that you can see that myopic eye is a strong one & not the reverse.
So answering your quiz,yes myopia may be genetically determined & more accurately it may be congenitally inherited.
And factor affecting your degree are antero-posterior diameter of eye,corneal compactness & refractive index of your lens.
