Started taking drug call depakote. Anyone ever use it? What are side affects?

Answers:    My brother was prescribe this for manic/depressive disorder. It's suppose to help out with the manic side. Instead of lithium sometimes they prescribe depakote. It can create you sleepy and general sensation of being "out of it". You should hold a blood test every month at a minimum, because it can build up toxic level in your liver. It is a salt-based drug. Many docs prescribe it to serene you down if you have anxiety, because unlike the benzo class of drugs it's not addictive. But, resembling I said, if you have a biddable doc he/she should check the levels contained by your blood to avoid liver problems. Another side effect is weight gain.
Hope this help.
