How do you find out more or less a nursing home?
Answers: I work within a nursing home (in Australia if you go on the waiting detail for my home you could be offered a bed in one of their other homes contained by the area it can be up to a 2 year hang around it depends on need of the human being if they knock back a bed twice they will budge back on the bottom of your list).
Ask your doctor,nurse & friends what the homes are similar to? would you put your parents there or if they are contained by one are they happy in that?
You might want to talk to your parents roughly speaking planing for it if the need arises. There are some outstandingly good nursing homes out nearby its just the few fruitless onesget the press!
Call around see if can catch a tour of the home (also you could pop in when they dont expect you but do transport a tour)!
some things to look/ask for
* How clean is it?
* Do they look bullish there?
* How lots to a room?
* Could husband and wife go contained by the same room?
* Try and see how the staff perform with the residents!
* How much and what does that cover?
* Why should i pick this home?
* What actives do they extend (some will have an extra charge)
* Does it hold a bus so they haave days out?
* Will they take them to appointments if you cant eg x-ray etc
* Do they run residents on hoildays (mine does)!
* Talk to staff & the people + their familys do the approaching there?
* Could they live here?
Most of all does it perceive like a home not a nursing home?
