I am taking 60 mg of prednisone a day for presently to help maintain my platelets normal. I be diagnose with ITP. I am swelling everyway my obverse and my stomach...due to the prednisone. I know this is one of the side of effects. I have gain 15 pounds. Is there anything I can do while taking this for another 5 weeks to loose the swelling and the consignment gain? I am really concerned and embarrassed roughly how I look now?

Answers:    There's not too much you can do, but one entry that you doctor might agree to is changing the timing of the doses. Side effects are sometimes reduced by taking prednisone every other morning, early contained by the morning, or by lowering the dosage of prednisone and adding a small dosage of Danazol. There is a support/discussion group for ITP that have really good info.
