Does repeated low-level electric shock grounds any robustness problems?

I am getting shocked several times a day from my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop at work. It's power supply outputs 19.5V and 4.62A (90W). It seem to be a combination of static electricity and improper grounding of the adaptor. The surge protector's "Grounded" neutral is lit when plugged in. It also seem to shock me when connected to the AC power supply, but a few times I have be shocked while running just sour battery power. The shock comes from anywhere I touch the laptop - from beneath the keyboard, the side of the monitor, the inputs and cd drive, etc.

I can business deal with the shock several times a time, just as long as I know that I'm not self subjected to any health problems down the road. Any word on the potential robustness problems, or advice on fixing the shock problem?

Answers:    There are no KNOWN effects from a few low smooth static shocks a day, but we don't know everything. If the heavens is dry, it is possible you are picking up a static charge from the carpet and discharging it into the laptop. You can theory test this by touching something that is grounded past touching your computer. If you get a shock from touching something grounded and later do not get a shock when you touch the computer, it is the dry nouns letting you build up a static charge.

It is also possible there is an electrical problem near the laptop. If it is the laptop, putting the laptop on a grounding pad (an electrically conductive wipe with a rope that plugs into the ground circuit on an outlet) will bleed the charge away. If this works, I suggest you have the laptop checked by a professional because in that is an electrical problem in the computer. It could obtain worse, or it could scramble your data.
