Answers:    It probably lately didn't change overnight.
Over times past few years his vision have been getting unhurriedly worse but your eight your old didn't see until he couldn't see the board anymore.
Genetics are fascinating.. anything can appear.
You can talk to your eye doctor just about it but I don't think within is anything to be concerned about.

you should be worried that he can't see the board to do his conservatory work. if he needs specs ,by all vehicle get them for him. if he can't see ,he can't take the education he wants.
