Why do general public choose to smoke?

I am doing a report in my form class and its about smoking. it say that over 400 billion cigarettes were sold within the U.S. in 1997 and that 35% of teenagers are smoking. I hold to figure out reason why do people smoke even though they know adjectives the health risks. If you smoke hold smoked or have family unit that smoke tell me why you ponder they smoke? Is it just because its dependence? An addiction? Or just raison d`¨ētre they think it make you look kool?

Answers:    I think the kids start to smoke because so frequent people make clear to them they can't. They always anarchist against rules, even the ones that make sense.
Because.. peer pressure, empire like to fit within.. and well sometimes for attention and even stress nouns some people go and get the idea that it looks cool so they do it, but evenutally, it's not so cool anymore and they catch addicted and they can't stop no matter how tough they try. i guess looking cool wasn't so cool after all. it's purely a bad quirk most of all though.
I started smoking to be a quantity of the crowd. That was 10 years ago. I smoke very soon out of habit and stress. Tried quitting... didn't work. they presume it makes them look cool
I didn't start smoking until I be 40.

In my case, I begin smoking due to overwhelming and chronic stress in my life span, and I knew nicotine have a calming affect.
Actually its a combo of adjectives the questions you basically asked. A lot of people started smoking because it be a "trend". A long time ago when cigs were invented nobody even know what was surrounded by cigs and what the affects of them were. After researchers started seeing what it be doing to people, how they be getting cancer of the lungs or dying..whatever it be they started to inform people what be in cigs. The problem be that once people started they couldn't stop. The Nicotine surrounded by cigs are what keeps general public craving for them. A lot of people THINK it help with STRESS when within reality it add to them. You can find a lot more information on this subject if you research it on google. It will shift more into detail then what I did. Good Luck near your report! =] I've smoked on and off since i be 13. I'm 17 now, but I see it as a short, early release from some of the stresses of life.
Some those find alternative ways, but it's a way i can relax.
On average, i hold about 2 or 3 cigarettes a morning, and this to me is limiting myself because of health issues, and also because of the inability to buy cigarettes at my age.

Cigarettes don't sort anybody look cool. If anything, cheap and smelly. I don't feel cool when i smoke, I only feel close to myself. I sometimes feel confused if i'm seen by someone i know whilst i'm smoking, and i try as frozen as i can not to smoke around friends that don't smoke, and if i do i walk atleast 10feet down them.

I do see smoking as an addiction. It's scientifically proven. The addiction then make it a bad obsession that's hard to grant up.
I reckon I will try to give up at some point, but at the moment i own no intentions of doing this.

Good question.
If I be doing a report on why people choose to smoke this is what I would be wise saying.
People choose to smoke because they feel it make them cool
The people who choose to smoke are normally teenagers and they follow the grown ups
They want to feel similar to they are important and they think too its good for them.
They don't realize once you start you can't stop smoking
The reality is it isnt
because if not sooner it will be latter than heart disease
cancer
Because many others do it and they surface good when doing so to be liek everyone else i guess?
