Answers:    The majority of paramedics work a 24 hour on/48 hour off shift, or some variation of this. That might work out capably as long as you have a willing spouse, significant other, or friend who's feeling like to care for your kids while you are on shift.

Another fairly adjectives shift is 12 hours on with 12 hours off. With this rota, you'll usually get 3 or 4 days off after working 12 on/12 sour for several days.

However, it's completely possible to find 8 hour shifts...
