My 6 month old-fashioned fell sour the counter obverse first onto a tile floor..?
I have my leg taken off when I was 5 because of Bone cancer. Then I have a load of revisions to the amputation. 2 months ago I had my most up-to-date surgery making me a right above knee trans femoral ( cut at the femur)
don't stress out. Just think once the member is gone what ever was keeping you back will budge away. you'll be able to get on next to your life. And you will walk again. amputation is much better later living in pain.
Each stay is different depending on why you're loosing your leg. Expect to be treated approaching your 7, I will warn you of that now.
My final stay was only 3 days but that be a revision and I knew more about amputation next my staff.
Expect to be really sore afterwards. And the medication is worse then the surgery it's self. Instead of flowers ask friends to send contained by fruit baskets. Pain medication does a number on your digestion. The more water you drink the faster you get stale the IV.
If you're a smoker stop now. It will slow the healing process.
here's some exercises you can do to strengthen your leg. might want to start some of it in a minute to get into a routeen http://www.geocities.com/tigamike/exerci...
When you're in hospital roll up a towel and place it against your stump to maintain you from rolling your leg out at night. This will keep your hip straight and prevent you from hurting yourself.
rime your stump to bring the swelling down. Sometimes all you need is a bit of rime rather then strain medication. Try not to over do it on the pain meds. I'm not going to lie it will hurt but you don't want to rely too heavily on medication.
First time around it is a bit of a stay. They may enjoy you stay during part of your rehab. After you're out of hospital be prepared to be in and out of rehab for physio and fittings.
First you will be within a shrinker sock to help the stump take shape afterwards casted for a leg after most of the insisions heal. Then you will get a theory test socket. This is a plastic socket that will go though many adjustment to make it more comfortable. You may have a check socket for months. Stumps change size and shape in the first year. Then you will own your new leg. but legs still need adjustment and repairs. Think of it like a car, you involve to take it in for a tune up every so heaps miles.
best of luck to you.
