here in the USA the disease I would most worry almost from a mosquito would be West Nile Virus. In other places of the world I would worry about Malaria, sickly fever, chagas disease to name a few. Living on the east coast does not spawn you exempt from the risk of West Nile Virus. Be wise when going out doors. Don't go out at first light or at dusk. Use Mosquito repellent on exposed skin. Sure can. The type of disease depends on where your living. In the US they include:

- West Nile Virus: carried by the Asian Tiger Mosquito
- Eastern equine encephalitis
- La Crosse Encephalitis
- St. Louis Encephalitis
- Western Equine Encephalitis
- Dengue Fever - new to the US
- Yellow Fever - pretty rare
- Heartworm - affects dogs
