Answers: My vet gives me Malesb shampoo, which have a fungicide and an antibacterial agent. It seems to at least hold the sores down.
I give him a tablespoon of refrigerated juice fish oil in breakfast and dinner as an anti inflammatory and that help his skin a lot - and it's healthy instead of purely one more chemical.
For my guy, one key is keeping him cool. I know surrounded by humans, raising the core body temperature sets stale 'cytokine storms' that cause allergic reactions, and I'm sure it does within dogs too.
These poor critters were designed for cool northern maritime climates. I keep hold of the house as cold as I take it, hose him down after runs, exercise him early or unsettled and in shade.
I'd shear him if he didn't have a really scrawny coat, and I think about newly shaving his belly anyway. He hates crates, and I think it is because he can't escape from his own body warmth buildup. He sleeps on the tile floors and moves often. His favorite is a big piece of left over 2 inch granite on the floor.
This is my closing dog. I didn't sign up to watch him suffer.
Have you tried Natural Balance Potato and Duck formula? I have a 3 year ripened black Lab that has the same issues. I enjoy had him on this food for a while, then spring arrives and he starts itching and chewing, also within the fall, I was told by my vet to try benadryl, it help a little. He said if it it gets worse he would endow with him some kind of cortisone shot to help. I option you the best of luck i know what your going through. My guy tends to allergies too. I keep him past its sell-by date corn, white potato, wheat and soy completely and it helps. He has to bring prednisone every other day. When he is in a unpromising season we have to shampoo him with a special shampoo every other hours of daylight and that seems to help.
