Answers: The procedure doesn't hurt, but afterwards it does hurt. Your dentist will prescribe spasm medication for the first 3-4 days. You can choose to stay awake during the procedure unless the dentist feels it would be better to put you to sleep. You can eat other things besides rime cream. It just needs to be soft food for awhile. I have soups, jello, etc. I think the reason is because you are already surrounded by pain and eating harder foods will hurt. If you are retiring talk to your dentist about it. He will know how to answer all your questions and put your mind at help.

You will probably have some discomfort but nothing compared to what you would touch if you did't have them taken out. Once they are removed you don't have to verbs about them becoming impacted, infected or crowding the rest of your teeth.
I don't recall what brand of anesthetic I had but I was pretty much out when I have mine removed. It depends on the situation. Ask your doc what he or she thinks and if you have a choice.
The first 24 hours or so you don't want to munch through anything with extreme temperatures. For a while after that you will want to eat only soft foods. You will obtain an instruction sheet from your doctor advising you what you can do and what you can't.
Even though it is an unpleasant experience, know that if you don't do it now you will probably be channel yourself up to some of the worst pain there is. What's that adage --an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
